SUNDAR PICHAI - AN INSPIRATION

Today Sundar Pichai is a face which is globally recognised and Google's CEO, having an annual income of about $200million/year (INR 1285 crores appx) and total wealth pegged around $1.2 billion appx, but it took alot of hard work and struggle to reach at this level . He was born in a humble family of Regunath Pichai and Laxmi Pichai in Madurai ,Chennai . His father was a electrical engineer and mom a stenographer .
He had said in an interview that he was raised in a modest house ,shared by tenants. He used to sleep in the living room with his younger brother due to lack of space .Neither did he have any special study room for his studies .He was just like one of the common lower middle class indians. During his childhood ,he had also seen drought ,the nightmares of which is still fresh in his mind so much so that he sleeps even today with a bottle of water besides him at night . The family did not own any luxury . There was not in even a television in his house . Sundar used to travel in bus to college as a common Indian student does . His family did not even have refrigerator ,which in today's life is considered as a necessity . His father used to come every day after job and narrate him what had happened at job and the difficulties faced during work to him . These stories of the work challenges faced by his father always inspired Pichai . The family got its 1st mode of communication i.e. telephone in the year 1984 when he was 12 yrs old. This was the initial introduction of technology to Sundai. He used to remember every number dialled on the telephone .
He did his schooling from Jawahar Vidhyalaya and class XII from Vana Vani school,Chennai .He was a very humble and silent boy during his school life and even today ,after having such a high post and wealth ,doesn't have a single ounce of ego or pride in his behaviour. He was always good in his studies from the start . He also was active in sports . Very few people know that he even had captained his school cricket team and won many trophies. Play and work both are important for development of the mind .
With his consistent hard word nd dedication ,he cleared the IIT exams at a young age of 17 years and joined IIT Kharagpur . It was during this time he fell in love with Anjali (also his classmate) in the 1st year of his engineering course ,who later on was to be his future wife, and proposed her in the final year . But he did not let his personal life interfere with his studies. He won silver medal for his academic performances in IIT Kharagpur .
After getting a degree in metallurgical engineering to joining Google ,in between , his life saw many twists and turn . After discussing with his teachers ,he did PhD from Stanford University in science . But he was not satisfied so also did MBA from Pennsylvania University .He also rejected jobs offered from various MNCs but rejected them . He rejected the posts of engineer and applied manager from Stanford University ,semiconductor & maker from Silicon valley and many other jobs,which were offered to him . Any common man would have happily accepted these but Sundar had a dream of doing something big so did not want to confine his dream by doing these jobs .He wanted to do something big in his life.
He joined Google in 2004 and stared working in Google's search bar team .His works were greatly appreciated in the company by his seniors. He had a dream of making a browser ,like Microsoft's internet explorer, but better and much simple to use by any person . He worked upon it and by the end of 2008 ,Google crome was born ,which we are using happily due to its lightweight and easier features. Today's it's world's most popular web browser. It was the turning point of his life. Google chose him ,seeing his sheer hard work ,the head of android project .The android which we are using today, behind it lies the idea and hard work of Sundar Pichai .

Larry Page ,the founder of Google ,seeing the potential of Sundar ,made him the CEO of Google in 2016 and himself took responsibility of Alphabet Inc. , their new holding company. Twitter and Microsoft also proposed executive high posts to Sundar in their respective companies but Sundar rejected them as he was happy in working with the Google company and its team .
Sundar today ,is an inspiration to million students all over the world,pursing engineering . He showed that if you work hard , honestly with sheer determination ,you will surely achieve success .He was voted one of top 10 CEO s of the world in 2018 .Once a student who had no study room owns a luxurious bungalow (worth 6.8billion appx.in Brooklyn ) and who used to travel in packed crowded buses ,now drives a luxurious vehicle sans any ego and pride .
